World’s Gate Releases Anti-censorship Tool for Iranians

Atlanta, Georgia, January 23, 2008 - The World’s Gate, Inc. announced today the release of an Iranian version of its Internet anti-censorship tool, GPass (v. 3.1).

GPass integrates online security tools, encrypted storage, and personal data management tools into a single application and aims to be the best online companion for users under adverse Internet censorship conditions. Compared with traditional privacy and anti-censorship products, GPass's advantages include capabilities to support Web 2.0 websites, online multimedia, and communication tools such as email and instant messengers. More importantly, GPass effectively protects users’ privacy and online safety with a secure Internet access mechanism for their online transactions.

Since its initial release in 2006, GPass has been widely used by web surfers in repressive regimes to defeat Internet censorship.   It is particularly popular in China due to the Chinese user interface in previous releases. As a step toward helping web surfers in other repressive regimes, World’s Gate has now released a GPass version with an Iranian (Farsi) user interface.

Iran has 18 million Internet users as of Nov 2007, according to Internet World Stats (http://www.internetworldstats.com). However, Iran is identified as one of the regimes that impose severe political censorship on the Internet. The release of this new version of GPass will allow Iranian natives enjoy the cyberspace freedom as other Internet users do around the world.

Alex Wang, Vice President of the World's Gate, states, “In the past, our anti-censorship tools have been released in Chinese and English, mainly to support users in China. But we have found that Internet users from other censorship regimes such as Iran and Burma show great interest. Therefore we released an Iranian version. A Burmese version is also in the works.”

World’s Gate’s other anti-censorship product, FirePhoenix, is also being prepared for release with Iranian and Burmese language support.
